For the first time in half a decade, Anita Clark, better-known as Motte, will be releasing a new album. Motte is known throughout New Zealand as an expert violinist, and has been employed by Nadia Reid, Marlon Williams, Lawrence Arabia and Maryrose Crook of the Renderers for her skills.
The upcoming release, entitled ‘Cold + Liquid,’ came from months of struggle stemming from Clark’s vocal cord paralysis. Initially unable to sing, it started as a purely instrumental project, drawing on sounds sourced from Clark’s home country of New Zealand. Along with collaborator Ben Woods, Motte created an album that expanded upon the mysticism created in the first Motte album, ‘Strange Dreams.’
To kick off the countdown to her new album release, Motte has released her first single, “Only I” with an accompanying music video. Both eerie and tender, Clark’s video expresses the fear and freedom of being untethered. Jareen Wee’s stunning performance underpins a message of devastation.
The full album will be released August 12th. Pre-order and pre-save using the link below!
