The first new Gate record in over a decade, A Republic of Sadness is as much a reason for celebration as indoctrination into the creative genius of Michael Morley. 

Known primarily for his work in the The Dead C, Morley simultaneously has been doing his Gate project since he started playing music. It has gone through various extreme incarnations, with A Republic of Sadness comprising the apex of his various interests in one collection. 

Morley's guitar and vocal drones permeate through his looped beats and sounds, ultimately reaching toward a sound that is not quite dance, not quite noise, not quite electronica, and never ever ambient.
